A NGO is a Non Governmental Organisation having only single motive i.e. to 'HELP' that too on a No-Profit basis.
NGO means to HELP anyone directly or indirectly in way of Food, Cloth, Accommodation, Health (Physical or Mental), Education {Individual to Individual, Individual to Group(s), Kindergarten, Institute, School, College etc.}, Skill Development, Environment, Solving Water Problems, Safety of Locality (RWAs) and any other help that you can think of.
Working Area of a NGO may vary from Street Level to All over India level depending upon its Objectives.
Now, you might also think that "Is registration of a NGO really necessary?" Yeah, you are right we must question everything.
The answer is 'YES'. Registration of a NGO is necessary because "Registrar of NGO" provides you an acknowledgement of registration in form of Registration Certificate or Registered Deed. After registration of your NGO your NGO becomes a legal entity.
Why NGO Registration is required?

NGO Registration brings credibility to the organization. Those providing donations will be more inclined towards associating themselves with those NGOs which are registered since NGO Registration gives a sense of authenticity.

NGO Registration ensures more exposure to the organization. NGO Registration may help a local NGO to expand its scope/ area of operations.

NGO Registration widens the scope of bringing both financial and manual resources. More volunteers will come forward and this will be beneficial for the NGO.

NGO is a general term that is used and to make it a legal entity. It requires to be registered with the appropriate Authority under the appropriate law.
